Online Consult

In response to our patients’ needs and the rapidly changing circumstances of public health, we are pleased to offer you the option of a virtual office visit. Telehealth visits are a great alternative to office visits, erasing the commute while still being able to conveniently access Dr. Runnels via a HIPAA-compliant, secure video platform.

For Current Patients

Just as you would make an appointment for an in-office visit, please call our office at (210) 483-6255 to schedule a Virtual Visit with Dr. Runnels. You can also click Book to schedule online. At your appointed time, you will be invited by email to video chat through Zoom. This app can be accessed through your computer or a mobile phone. As a current patient you may make a virtual appointment regardless of where you reside.

For New Patients

If you are a resident of Texas or Alabama we can offer you a complete medical consultation with Dr. Runnels. If you are not a state resident, or you are not a current patient in our practice, then we may not provide you with a physician appointment due to current telemedicine regulations.

We must confirm your status by phone as a new or current patient, as well as the location of your residence, in order to satisfy regulatory requirements.

Zoom

Zoom is a HIPAA-compliant, secure platform with a high-quality audio and video experience. When you are scheduled for a telehealth visit, you will receive an invitation to Zoom by email. Please connect to Zoom about ten minutes before your first virtual visit as you will need to download their software.

Payment

Payments for virtual visits are the same rate as an office visit. Credit card information will be taken at the time you schedule your appointment. You may cancel your appointment with at least 24 hours notice without penalty. Cancellations within 24 hours or ‘no-shows’ will incur a 50% fee. Please call ahead and speak with our secretary to discuss our fee schedule.

Insurance

Just as we do not participate in any insurance plans for office visits, telemedicine visits are billed and paid at the time services are rendered. We can provide you with an appropriately coded superbill which you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. While telemedicine is generally considered to be reimbursable, each insurance company has its own regulations. We cannot make any guarantees regarding your insurance reimbursement.
